Why This Area Trips Up Standard Excavators
A standard mini excavator is still often 1.2m-1.5m wide once you account for the tracks — too wide for most side gates, and definitely too wide for the gap between a Queenslander and its boundary fence. Add a slope (common through the Mount Gravatt and Carina Heights ridgelines) and a standard machine either can’t fit, can’t get safe traction, or both.
That’s the gap restricted-access equipment fills. Rubber-tracked micro-machinery as narrow as 720mm — about the width of a wheelbarrow — can get through a standard side gate, work under a high-set house, or access a rear yard that’s otherwise only reachable by hand.
